Our Review of Match.co.uk: Why We Chose To Rank Match.co.uk at #6 For Online Dating
Let’s say the most important thing right now: we’re not all about using gimmicks on dating sites, and if Match had just stayed as a proper website where we could meet girls, we would probably have ranked it quite a bit higher on our list.
That being said, it’s a decent site. It’s a bit cluttered with this gimmick of theirs, the idea that you can meet the perfect man or woman by filling out a personality test, but for the most part, sure, it’s a site where you can find and meet singles in London or wherever you live.
We LIKED it, and we had a decent time, but we didn’t have anywhere near the results we got from other sites on our Top 5, like PassionSearch or Establishedmen.
The Results Speak For Themselves: After Using Match.co.uk Over 3 Months, Were They Worth Our Notice?
During our time on Match, we sent out emails to 360 women. We did try to stay with the ones that the “expert personality profile” found compatible, but sometimes, yes, we cheated.
We got back 189 emails. That’s not the most fabulous percentage when compared with the rest of the sites on our top 5 list, but it’s not really that terrible either.
We set up dates with eight women, and five of them showed up. Apparently the Match just wasn’t right with the other three, unbeknownst to us!
Our Top 2 Email Messages That Got Us The Best Responses At Match.co.uk
Email 1: “Hi, Ella. I was startled to see your profile on here—I think I’ve seen you in the shows! No, I don’t expect you to remember someone in the fourth row on the left on any particular day, but I would like to say that you were excellent, and I’d love to tell you that in person sometime.”
Email 2: “Hi, Joan. I’m so pleased to see that there’s a woman who not only looks and sounds like you, but she’s an artist as well? I hadn’t expected to find someone so quickly that sounded so much like what I was looking for. If you had to choose just one, would you stick with sculpture or acrylic painting?”
What Made Us Rate Match.co.uk So Highly? Match.co.uk Features We Really Loved
While there is that gimmick of the personality test, we had VERY good luck with the sorting algorithm besides that. It was quite accurate when it came to location, down to specific London neighborhoods, which pleased us immensely.
Another thing we liked was the fact that the women on here seemed serious about looking for a Match, not just someone they could run about with for a few afternoons.
How To Stand Out From The Crowd—In A Good Way—On Match.co.uk: Best Dating Tactics
The best way we’ve found to get an edge on Match is to make yourself look attractive—by committing fully to the profile gimmick. We LOVE that you’re required to fill out a full profile before using Match, since that means you’re much more likely to find only women on this site who actually want to meet someone, and they’re not just mucking about.
The Few Things We Didn’t Love About Match.co.uk
The only annoying thing when it comes down to the gimmick of personality testing, really, is how much the women on the site seem to believe in it like it’s gospel.
We got MANY emails from women who told us that our profiles looked interesting, but our personality tests just didn’t measure up to their expectations, so they’d be giving us a pass.
If your gimmick is actually keeping people from finding each other, you should rethink it!
Final Review of Match.co.uk: Should You Use Match.co.uk For Online Dating In The UK?
In the end, we do like Match quite a lot. The only problem is that there are many sites that we prefer, such as PassionSearch. However, Match could give you good results, so don’t be afraid to try it out.
